Help on Selecting the Username and Password

Username

The username must have a length of 6 to 20 characters from the following:

  • upper case letters from A-Z
  • lower case letters from a-z
  • numbers from 0-9
  • special characters: _-
Any mixture of above characters is possible, no whitespaces are allowed. Using an email address as your username is not permitted. Please note that the username is case sensitive.

Password

The password must have a length of 6 to 20 characters from the following:

  • upper case letters from A-Z
  • lower case letters from a-z
  • numbers from 0-9
  • special characters: _-.
For security purposes, passwords are only accepted if they contain a mixture of characters from at least 2 of the above groups. Use, for example, upper case letters together with numbers, or a combination of lower and upper case letters. Furthermore note that the password may not be the same as the username. No whitespaces are allowed. The password is case sensitive.

Confirm Password

To ensure that the password you entered does not contain any typing errors, we need you to confirm your password.

Password Strength

For security purposes, we recommend that you choose a safe password. This helps us protect your Intertops account. When selecting a strong password you should consider the following:

  • Although the minimum password length is 6 characters, we recommend using at least 8 characters; for strong passwords we suggest using 10 characters or more.
  • We suggest a combination of characters from above mentioned groups - i.e. a mixture of lower case letters, upper case letters, numbers and special characters; we recommend mixing at least lower case letters, upper case letters and numbers.
  • Using the login name as part of the password should be avoided: for example adding numbers to the end, e.g. adding "1" to "loginname" to build the password "loginname1".
  • Substituting only certain characters from your login name should be avoided, e.g. replacing the "i" in "loginname" with "1" to build the password "log1nname".
A rough indication of your password's strength is displayed to you, ranging from "Weak" to "High". You should consider this only an estimate and not an absolute guarantee on your password's safety.
